Centigraphe power reserve and accuracy.

After posting those movement shots last week, I went looking for some notes I'd made regarding my Centigraphe's timing abilities. I made these notes right about the time I decided to sell it and therefor never posted about my findings.

Journe states the watch has an autonomy of 80 hours when the chronograph is not running. I have not found anything in writing specifically about the accuracy of its rate; the watch has no running seconds hand so testing for this would be very difficult. However,  it would be fair to expect the watch to keep a good rate since it is a Journe.

I found the watch ran at least 90 hours on a single wind: I got 91+ hours twice, and 90+ hours a third time. As for rate-keeping: I found that even at the end of the wind (in the 90th hour) the watch was within a minute of its original rate; and if you are willing to trust my eye the watch probably gained less than 5 second across those time periods. I base this on when I saw an atomic clock change minutes vs. where the minute hand on the Centigraphe was in between minute markers. This is very unscientific but it leads me to conclude that the Centigraphe runs like a true chronometer, as every other Journe watch I've had does.

Having said all this, together with looking at my old photographs of the watch, I'm starting to think that some day I might have to bring this piece back into the fold.

Very interesting observations you made. I admit I felt an itch as well, when I saw your pictures.

Itches are made to be scratched.
