Indeed not an easy call - I found that, to make it work, you should consider the most frequent use case and what it would compete with in your ritual of selecting one to wear on a specific occasion. Can you shad some light?

Thanks - when going for versatility, I would go VC gray dial on leather or PP 5711 on bracelet - both go with jeans and suit perfectly.

Thanks. Interesting to see FPJ getting advised in people's top3. Love the engineering content of his whimsies, but still unsure of long term residual value if required to liquidate. Am I wrong?

For me, I was attracted to the CB for several reasons 1. Loved the 39mm size and heft of the tantalum case & blue dial combination, especially the way the dial changes color 2. Lovely movt, as many have noted. And I like manual-wind time-only watches....

The first quartet comes from the IG account of a fellow countryman, whose IG account is lzr4 - I like his selection! Lovely straps and pictures too. One of them was the strap in the GTG - I think it's the upper left one. The second trio is based on search...

For the JLC QP, yes it was a semi finalist, but in the end I found (a few) enough things I did not like about it that detracted from what I did. We know we cannot argue anything from a technical POV against the watchmaker's watchmaker, but one thing I wis... 

The eye. Still, even if I unconditionally love the Duometre ( which is a secret for nobody   , I would have loved more pronounced anglages, for example. We are never happy. Though, your remark is correct on the level of finishing of the MUT Perpetual.... 

Velociphile, I usually keep my opinion to myself because watch choices are subjective things. However, as you are a long-time PuristS friend, I can only tender some objective facts. At one time, I collected one piece from every commercially-available FPJ ...

I have heard of technical issues but not from someone with deep practical experience. Good to know and be careful about.

Thanks for this post. Now I'm no longer pining for a chronometre bleu. Sometimes its best to admire certain watches from afar. Having a 100k FP Journe watch go bad must be like walking in a beautiful woman pooping. You know it happens, but its still horri...
