Watch Suggestion needed :-)
Hi all, as usual I'm very tempted to keep my collection to very minimum and focus selection.
I would like to see which 2 additional pieces will you choose to add on to my current 2 keepers.
My current keepers are Dufour Simplicity and Rolex Milgauss (great beater).
I have a list below which you can choose to add on to my above mentioned keeper.
Let me know what you choose and , if possible, why
1) Journe Resonance with shiny Champaign dial (old version)
2) Journe Remontoir Tourbillon (old version)
3) Lange PLM
4) Patek 5970G
5) Urwerk 103
6) Urwerk 202
7) Laurent tourbillon
8) Haldiman H1 Tourbillon
9) Richard Mille RM002
10) Patek 5101P
If you have other suggestions, feel free to suggest.
Whatever you choose and suggest, please think of how it will complement with my Milgauss and Simplicity.
Thank you very much in advance.
Lovesss*CL

where to start....you currently own,and list a number of watches that possibly have no connection or a common line whatsoever....soo different. Many struggle to create a theme for their collection, many others (me included )just buy what they like without ...
Headscratcher.

Not that I think you need any opinion to get a fine watch, CL, and among those in your list, I'd say, by far, the Lange PLM: Such an understated watch, housing some technical refinements, and with a milky enamel dial. All is discretion, subtility, in this...

Hi, I am trying to understand where you want to go, here is my understanding (I am not a psychatrist!...) but we all go through the same thought processes trying to justify or bring some pragmatism or some reason to a passion!... So my interpretation is y...

Hi John, Because you are keeping the collection very tight these days you need a watch that is going to fulfill a distinct purpose. You have the ultimate black tie / dress watch in the Simplicity and a great beater in the Milgauss, so I would think you ne...
what a selection

if it were me I would pick the Resonance and the Richard Lange PLM. The Resonance because I find the concept so intriguing and the execution masterful. Of all the watches I own and have tried this is by far the one I love the most. This is not my favorite...
I love the old resonance becos

i's the beginning and the dial and sub dial are both sparkling and shiny, it dances with light It has the antiquated look that speaks of old Paris charm. As for the RL PLM, I feel that it is over shadowed by the original PLM. Original PLM is before my tim...

I have always found the 002 and the 012 fascinating watches (as well as the so-called alusic), but the remainder seem to me more marketing than horology. Size of the 002 would 'fit' you well. Cannot imagine what other RM pieces you would think about.
Ok Thanks in that case ...

My suggestion would be the PP 5131G to fit in your 'my time' requirement and it is as exclusive as the Simplicity. Playing on a contrasting theme here Time only vs Complication. Simple vs. Sophisticated. The 2nd watch will be something of avant garde inde...

version is way nicer. As for 103T, only version that makes sense and look good is the Black one. The rest on them will have a weird black band on the top of the sapphire crystal, which is rather distracting. I must say 103 is very nice.....if only they ha...

I would love 3970EP, tho But seriously, I wouldn't keep non-round watches, so several of your choices would be gone. I have been trying to keep my collection to minimum, too, but.... Ken

As minimum as possible, it's so zen Ken, if you have a chance to hear the Credor Grande Sonnerie in Tokyo, please let me know how it sounds. Maybe some pictures of that and the other simpler piece (forget the name but the one with enamel dial) Thank you. ...

Hi John, I tried to narrow down to 2 from your list of 10, but got stuck here and can’t go further. 1. Laurent: great watchmaking in realization, in the same spirit with Simplicity w.r.t. design approach and execution, in spite of the breathtaking tourbil...

Hi John, Is it possible to define the qualities that make both the Simplicity and Milgauss "keepers"? If you could, it may be feasible to apply the same criteria to the other categories of watches in your list. Or perhaps different categories of watches r...
First love, perhaps?
By: AndrewD : August 4th, 2010-15:27
That's interesting, John. Of course the danger is that we move on from the watches that first attracted us because we have seen and learned more and understand their place in horology, which may not have been apparent early on. However, if there are watch...

I used to love the Resonance more than the Remontoir Tourbillon.....then somehow I switch my love to Remontoir Tourbillon and now back to finding the early Resonance more special I guess I will be happy with either one, but just one. *CL
