Vemödalen
is defined as "the frustration of photographing something amazing when thousands of identical photos already exist." Vemödalen is a 'neologism' i.e. a new word or phrase that is not yet in common use... and maybe never will be ; ).
I live in a train friendly environment and spend a lot of time on or near the rails... One of my station photos was pooh-pooh by a professional as being "too common place", I have since become good friends with that photographer -and- I am still taking the same photos...
Are there any subjects that you return on a regular basis even though there are millions of similar shots? or subjects that only your close family members still "enjoy seeing"?

I agree that doors, entrances, gates, portals, etc. make interesting subjects

I notice the handle and lock on the first door... with the detail on the bottom so the doors can open inward. Looks to be quite strong. The relief work on the second photo and the stone work on the third image... A lot of very fine detail...

personally, I don't really care if there exist many photos taken at the same or similar location, I always shoot what I feel like shooting . Cheers, Filip

If you only took photos of subjects or themes that were never photographed it would be a very small collection.
Case in point....

Find a new way to look at, see, or present something familiar and I definitely find some truth in that approach. At the same time the well executed "traditional" photo can retain something valuable... this is what I see now. Sometimes (in general) we see ...
Not necessarily the same location but the same subject, yes definitely ! And guess which subject?...

as a kid I rode a fair bit and a friend kept a horse that I also rode from time to time... My grandfather farmed with horses and my mom went to school in the winter by horse... it wasn't that long ago ; )
I rode some time ago.....

I think every photo has his history
There are not 2 identical photos, even a second later shot might be completely different. I think what makes the difference are the watcher's eyes, not only the photographer's ones. The moving train is stunning, the contrast between the speed and the wait...
I agree that one difference is the intended purpose...
