Hi all,
In November 2009 heard about the U2 360° tour so thought, wow, that would be great, lets find out when they are in Paris!...Oh 18. september 2010, that seemed a long way out but I booked the tickets. So it's been almost a year, so this has been a long awaited moment, and yesterday night was the night!
To add some spice to the event, I didn't say anything to my significant other when i booked the tickets, just kept watching the calendar where she usually fills in our events...so last week end I told her not to book anything for that Saturday as I had booked something...then on Wed I gave her the ticket so she had time to get in the mood.
Let me tell you we really felt gifted being there yesterday night. U2 means a lot to us having followed our path for the last 25 years or so, and of course the Band has grown to what we know and is a living myth today. The concert, I should better say the event was breath taking with a nice mix of recent and older (our favourite) songs. The set up in terms of stage, video screens etc was unbelievable, eventhough we appreciated that there weren't any useless effects like fireworks etc. from a pure musical POV, you are better of listening to the music on your ipod with a proper set of head phones and the sound in big stadiums is not great. But seeing the Edge playng live, Bono and the band remains a memorable moment. Then, on top of the music, there were some great messages about the World and human beings in general, as we know U2 is very much involved in these causes.
Finally, from a watch POV as this forum is the reason why we gather, I wore one of my favourite companions, which I find has some great Rocking appeal, my UG Polerouter Sub. I didn't take my heavy SLR to the concert as the aim was to focus on the moment and the music and you want to keep light when you go to an event with around 130000 other people!...So here are just a few souvenir pictures with a small compact camera.
First a view of the Stade de France with the crowd...then a few views of the concert, a Rock'n'roll wristshot, and finally the souvenirs the next day.
Matt
