Thoughts on selling my 5905P

Cognoscenti,

I’m thinking about selling my 5905P. This is a 42mm platinum Patek with a LOT of wrist presence and I love how it wears, but I’ve become a bit annoyed with it as of late because I’m finding it very difficult to read the time. The white gold hands disappear against the black dial and I find myself having to bring the watch close to my face and angling it in the light to read the time...I am a late 30s gentleman with perfect eyesight too! The below photo is a good representation of what I’m talking about. I’m thinking about selling and then purchasing a white dial 5960/1A on stainless bracelet. What do you guys think?

I have similar legibility issues with my Daytona but there are so many other things I like about it that I can get past the relatively poor legibility. Good luck with your decision.

I had it in blue, traded because it was top heavy for me. I don’t miss it.

The 5270/1R has attached and soldered links which I don't think can work with a strap anyways.

If a timepiece is poor at its intended function, then it becomes jewelry. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. But I am old school and see my watches as tools first and jewelry second and nothing lasts too long in my collection if that is reversed. ...

The best possible legibility is actually part of the Patek Philippe Seal. But this was written before Sandrine took over. Get yourself a new Patek! [nt]

Ive owned a 5905P for a very long time black dial but I ended up getting a 5960P grey Dial as its smaller (40,5 mm instead of 42) and its easier to read and wears better and has the beautiful calatrave cross clasp which I prefer. Im a big fan of 5960s but...
