Thinking about a Calendrier model
Well, I thought the Chronometer Souveraine or Octa Automatique would be for me, but then I saw the Calendrier model. It's not the type of watch I am typically drawn to, prefering simple dials, but this one just seems to work for me. The dial design is original, and while busy, still seems to be quite legible. At this point, my preference is for a PT version, thinking it would come across as less dressy than the RG version.
Do you think the Calendrier can work well as a daily office wearer or do you view it as a dressier piece? Do you find the dial design comprises daily wear, being difficult to read or more on the fragile side? Do you view the CS (or Octa Auto) as a more versatile piece? For those that might own both, do you find yourself favoring one over the other?
Luck also happens that one of my local ADs (non FPJ) has recently taken two FPJs in trade with one being a Calendrier. From what he describes, the watch looks like new and the papers are dated from 2004. It is a PT model with WG dial. I believe it has a RG movement, but I am not 100% sure. Given the watch's age, would you have any concerns about the movement? Were the RG movements phased in starting in 2004? In terms of servicing, have you been happy with the company's service and timeliness? Can anyone provide a ballpark on approximate cost for routine service and at what frequency? Any assistance would be appreciated.
