Horological Meandering

The quartz brothers...

Just had to post this today.  The Bulova Precisionist is awesome but not near the +/- 10 seconds a year that Bulova advertises (more like 42 to 60 seconds a year, oh well..).  The Rolex Oysterquartz is a 1991 model 17013, s/n starting with N.  This is the temperature-compensated VCTCXO quartz module, and so far it gained just a second in the past week.  It belongs to a friend who loaned it to me for the picture.  My observation of Rolex, in general: they blow all other watch brands out of the water, except maybe for PP, VC, AP, perhaps Breguet, and the independents and similar high quality 'haute jolerie' (spelling?).  Notice I did not list Breitling, Tag or Omega (except I greatly respect the Speedmaster, of course).

The Seiko is the SNA586P1 with the venerable quartz 7T62 chrono movement, which is probably made in more numbers than any other movement, including ETA and Valjoux.  This is my daily beater since 2007 and the original battery is still in it and going strong.  Seiko - when you need a cheap, reliable tank.

Thanks!  HAGWE!     : )
