The L.U.C 1963 Chrono PuristS Edition. I had no idea when …

I had no idea when I sat in the IGOTT2 Chopard session (May 31, 2011, click here ) titled “What's a PuristS watch?" that the L.U.C 1963 Chrono PuristS Edition would be delivered to us three years later.

In that session Mr. Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Co-president of Chopard, outlined to the audience what makes a Purists watch and then opened up the discussion to the floor. It is clear that the Chopard team took on board many of the ideas that were thrown around: size, legibility, manual wind, high level finishing, vertical clutch and even the beehive. I was able to view the early development of the L.U.C 1963 Chrono PuristS Edition in 2012 with Director of Product Development, Guy Bove, and I will bring that story to you shortly. In the meantime these are the notes of Mr. Scheufele’s presentation of what makes a purists watch I took at that session:

1. In-house components

2. Traditional craftsmanship

3. Outstanding quality and finish; attention to detail

4. Technical innovation

5. Certified precision – Quality Fleurier, Poincon Geneva and COSC certification

6. Reliability and durability.

7. Recognizable design

8. Exclusive and limited editions.

9. Attraction to all the senses

10. After-sales service.
