Hi,
I live on the south coast of England and my local Patek dealer very kindly invited my wife and I to have Sunday lunch with representatives from the dealer and Patek UK. The event was held at Chewton Glen, a 5 star hotel on the edge of the New Forest in southern England.
The venue, the food and people were great. At lunch I was sat next to Mark, the MD from Patek UK and I must say he was very engaging and passionate about Patek and it was a real pleasure to spend a Sunday afternoon talking with him about watches.
Naturally enough Patek and the dealer brought along some examples of Patek's wares and I just wanted to share some photos with the forum. Unfortunately for you, I am from the "quantity not quality" school of photography and my efforts are very poor compared with the work of Suitbert, Valentin, Harry and others but my lack of skill will not prevent me from inflicting my photos on you!
The new Nautilus chronograph. This is just a mock up and is not a working model but it only arrived in the UK on Friday so we were lucky to see it. I really like the design and it is not as big on the wrist as I feared it might be. Although it may be unfair given that the piece I saw was just a mock up, personnally I prefer the heft and case/stap finishing of the AP Royal Oak chronos that I saw a couple of weeks ago on the AP tour but the in-house Patek movement looked great to my untrained eye:
Rose gold 5712R
A box of Nautili!
5135 in platinum. When I first saw the photos of this piece I thought that the diamonds at 3 and 9 o'clock would be too much but in reality they are not very ostentatious and I think they work well. Although it is not captured in my pictures, the blue/grey colour of the strap is very nice nice and really complements the dial.
5130 in white gold. Another great watch! It looks a bit big on my wrist from the angle of the photo but in reality it was a very nice fit and the increase in the size of the watch over the previous model has given it a really balanced look.
5109 in platinum. Of Patek's time only watches, this is one of my favourites. The dial and especially the hands are exquisite.
My wife took a shine to the 5147 in white gold. With a short strap to make the watch fit properly, this would really suit her so she will have to get saving! The blue dial is quite vivid in reality and my picture is not helped by the thumb print I "artfully" applied to the crystal!
Thanks for looking and thanks again to Anthony, Natasha and Paul at the dealer and all at Patek UK for a great Sunday.
Jon
