question about antique pocket watch

 

Hello there Breguet lovers

I have received in inheritance a mens breast pocket watch that is an original Breguet, it was part of a general private collection that was since sold. The case is silver and I am attaching a not very good Jpeg of the watch. I would be very interested to hear what this type of watch is worth and how I would go about selling it if decide to.

As far as I have managed to see it is from around 1860 (or before) front winding mechanism (key attached on chain)

Please do not ask me for additional details as I do not have it available this was the picture we took before placing in safekeep.

Sorry Becki, this is 99% certain that it is not genuine. There are many features that give it away - the case style, the dial style and the signature are some. In addition, the front winding is very rare indeed in Breguet watches. This form of winding was...

Thank you Keith for the interesting reply and explanation. As this was part of a large silver watch collection, that was sold when the owner decided to change interests, he only kept that one watch and I thought he knew why (!).. how can we be sure it is ...

Dear Becki Your watch does have a value but it is not the kind that appears in the top auction houses where they look for decorative cases (enamelling etc.) or complications (repeating, calendar etc.). I guess its value, not having seen its condition but ...
