Thank you Keith for the interesting reply and explanation. As this was part of a large silver watch collection, that was sold when the owner decided to change interests, he only kept that one watch and I thought he knew why (!).. how can we be sure it is a fake? and if it it is , if from 17th century surely it must have some value as an antique whatever? please advise ,thank you

Dear Becki Your watch does have a value but it is not the kind that appears in the top auction houses where they look for decorative cases (enamelling etc.) or complications (repeating, calendar etc.). I guess its value, not having seen its condition but ...
