Thank you Keith for the interesting reply and explanation. As this was part of a large silver watch collection, that was sold when the owner decided to change interests, he only kept that one watch and I thought he knew why (!).. how can we be sure it is a fake? and if it it is , if from 17th century surely it must have some value as an antique whatever? please advise ,thank you

Sorry Becki, this is 99% certain that it is not genuine. There are many features that give it away - the case style, the dial style and the signature are some. In addition, the front winding is very rare indeed in Breguet watches. This form of winding was...

Dear Becki Your watch does have a value but it is not the kind that appears in the top auction houses where they look for decorative cases (enamelling etc.) or complications (repeating, calendar etc.). I guess its value, not having seen its condition but ...
