Chopard

A truly integrated manufacture (if you recall, they even make their own gold!) and a brand that has a special spot in my heart,  this year Chopard introduces pieces that are enlargements of the previous models, and the conventional yet tasteful Engine One tourbillon.

An overview

First, the 1937, made of steel and billed as the entry level to the prestigious LUC line, measuring 42mm and featuring the LUC 1.010 movement with 60 hour power resrve.

Beautiful watch, especially the one with the porcelain-like dial. My only minor complaint is the stiffness and the thickness of the newly designed leather strap, which takes a way some of the elegance of the piece. I hope Chopard can put a soft and thinner alligator band on it, upon request.

The XP in white gold, with the 3.97 movement. The tonneau shaped case (37mm x 40mm) is a true testament to the movement of the same shape and design.

The redesigned and enlarged Quattro in rose and white gold. (now measuring 43mm, to keep up with the trend of larger watches)

The new Chrono One in 44mm. I applaud their design of the back case, giving it an arena look - reminds me of the Anfiteatro case of Bvlgari.

Also, this makes the movement look larger.

Next is the Engine One Tourbillon, paying tribute to Chopard's ties to the racing world.

Although it looks shockingly "un-Chopard" from the first glance, closer inspection reveals the same high standard of quality found in LUC pieces.

Diameter is 35.4mm x 44.4mm. The movement is LUC 1TRM.

Again, cool piece, yet I wish Chopard could've softened up the strap and made them more comfortable to wear.

The edges of the dial are hollow, giving a dial a "suspended" look

The new Rosso Corsa from the Mille Miglia line

The Superfast Split Second Chrono

A great set of introduction. The designs of the larger cases are well-done  - although they house the same movement as before, the movements do not appear small. My favorite is the Chrono One - there are so many nice design details on both sides.

Thanks Chopard, and keep up the good work.

Hope you have enjoyed the post.

Yours Truly,

Jon (Z3)
