I just posted this on my Instagram @patek_ambassador but wanted to also share this special piece with the Purists on here. This is a rare vintage Patek Phillippe pre-reference rectangular timepiece with the iconic explosion Breguet numerals designed and manufactured by Patek Philippe from approximately 1915-1925. Patek Philippe introduced the explosion Breguet numerals dial design to the world first; Franck Muller was a watchmaker at Patek Philippe in the 1980s and saw this very timepiece in the Patek museum in Geneva and then resigned from Patek Philippe to start his own manufacture using this Patek design as the inspiration to his homage pieces. While Franck Muller popularized the design in the modern era with timepieces such as the Casablanca, it was in fact Patek who originated the exploding Breguet numerals design some 70 years prior. With this exquisite timepiece I want to also draw your attention to the revolutionary curved hinge case design in the third photograph, allowing the large 51mm by 30mm case to mate seamlessly to the wrist. At auction, these rare timepieces have had a wide disparity in price selling for between $15,000 and $198,000.
