The question regarding using a winder has been raised before, but I am still somewhat confused.
The manual for my Octa Zodiaque states the following:
"For all models of the Octa collection.
The use of rotating watch winders could severly damage your watch.
Please read the following guide lines:
Either 284 revs to the right to ensure 24 hours of power, or 264 revs to the left to ensure 24 hours of power."
In response to a previous post, FPJ responded per the following:
"It is good to put the watch on an automatic watch winder when you don't wear it. The winder can move from both side (left or right) but should not move more than 280x during 24 hours."
My Orbita winder can be programmed to move in both directions, but the minimum frequency that can be set is 500 turns per day. I assume this would mean 250 TPD in each direction. And based upon the above, I assume it would not be a good idea to keep the watch on this winder since it would basically double the recommended TPD, even though it is alternating directions. Is my logic correct here?
And if the watch is winding at a frequency that gives it 24 hrs of power per day, does this mean that the power reserve would theoretically never change? Other of my watches gain in power reserve when they are on the winder, as they do on my wrist.
(Also of interest the Orbita web site recommends 500-950 TPD in both directions for the Octa line.)
Thanks for any assistance and help with my understanding. It would be very convenient to keep the watch on a winder when not worn.
