In 2008, I asked this forum whether to go with the traditional black-bezeled Rolex or the green; I preferred the latter but my wife hated it. Everyone here said to defy the wife and buy the green. Here's the thread (hope it links!):
I went conventional and bought the black. Well, fast forward to yesterday; I had traded the black years ago, I still wanted an LV, and the AD finally called. It took forever, but Santa finally arrived yesterday! I'm very happy; the wife, not so much, but that's ok. I'm grateful to those of you who encouraged me to go with my gut those many years ago.

It looks great. I did something similar. My wife has always hated the Pepsi GMT, but I liked it. I had one a while back and sold it to a friend. But I liked it every time I saw him wear it. So I eventually got another one. Husbands and wives can't always ...
