MY thoughts on this brand....
I have been a watch addict for many many months already. I have read almost everything about watches that i can get my hands into and visit almost every english speaking forum in the net. What i have realized is that jaeger le coultre has been a part of almost all the top brands.
1) Audemars Piguet - they develop the 1120 caliber. they also used jaeger movements up till now.
2)Lange and Sohne - I heard that they were the ones who develop the big date mechanism but they were only able to use it with the serpentine model( with adjustments).
3)Vacheron Constantin - the 1120 was used for the top models vacheron came up with.
4)Patek - the 1120 was also used by patek for the nautilus line..(i think it was the nautilus line).
5) breguet -I heard that they also used jaeger movements before (correct me if im wrong).
I just want to point out that jaeger (IMHO) is one the reasons why those brands are where they are now. My only dissapointment is why doesnt jaeger come up with models more elegant(i don't know if this is the correct term) than those brands. They can come up with movements that will be able to compete with the pateks and lange...I know that they have a contract that they cannot make an 1120 anymore, but i think they cam come up with something better than that!
I am also a bit unhappy that they are concentrating with the compressor line. The Richmont group already has panerai for its sports watches...I think jaeger should not be in that catergory. the reversos they came out last year were sport based or limited editions.
Every year i always look at jaeger what they are coming out with. This is my most favorite brand...and my sun moon is my most favorite watch. Also, when my friends ask me (because they know i live and breathe watches) what is my favorite brand...I always answer jaeger le coultre! I just hope that come out with movements like the 1120...
