Montre d’Aeronef Type 20 GMT 1903

 

I was lucky enough this week to try on one of the final production watches of the Type 20 1903, so thought I would share some quick pictures with you (please excuse the quality, they were snapped on my phone with not too great lighting).













To me it was a bit of a disappointment.  I was lucky enough to try one of the prototypes which I borrowed from Mr Dufours wrist at a dinner in NYC and the lume just looked aged/worn/dirty... a great look in my opinion even though I know there were a lot of people who did not like this.  On the final watches, they seem to have tried to go for a camo lume, but have just done the numbers and left the hands as per the proto...  for me this is a real spoiler and honestly I just don't think it works.  

I do love the bund style strap though and the back... now that is cool!

Overall it is sad to see how Zenith after many years of wrong decisions reached "Zenith" in last couple of years and now start to descend very quickly and too easy Yours D

It looks like a fashion watch and it has not got the credentials for credibility - no actual links to the Wright Brothers - a tiny movement in an oversized case. And the lume? What were they thinking with that Panzer division lume? +1 They should have stu...
