Lange 1 – some thoughts …

When it was presented more than 15 years ago, its asymmetric layout showed a highly distinctive appearance - no overlap among its key components: a dial containing the hour and minute hands, a smaller dial containing the second hand, a double window containing oversized digits for the date, and an "ab auf" meter registering the degree of wind left in the watch.

Today it is what we call an icon, isn´t it?

The Lange 1 was just the first step and is just one member of the Lange 1 family. Nonetheless there have been more than 28 variations of the “basic” L1, about 8 versions of the L1 Moonphase …

… and I think there are still some nice ones I could imagine.

Two examples:

Lange 1 Moonphase with black dial (not new, but still unrealized) and a new one the Lange 1 “Phantom”.

There are no changes needed for the asymmetric layout and the outstanding case (from my point of view), but as I said before I could imagine some more variations without dilution of the icon.

What do you think about and which kind of variations do you have in mind?

Oliver
