Would anyone know if the compression key on the crown used for starting and stopping the alarm can be turned to the closed position when the crown is pulled out ? It occurs to me that this would be desirable so that you are able to wear the watch in its fully water resistant state with the alarm disengaged.

Try on yours. :)
You want do disengage that alarm? There is an easier way and a moree secure one: Just set the alarm to a different time, and give two or three turns to the alarm crown... The noise will disappear. Best, Nicolas.
