I have written a review on the WWW, a few years ago, a review that you can read here:
jlc.watchprosite.com
I based my review on a specimen which had an original dial.
Which is this one:
Now, I would like to share with you some pictures of the same Watch, but with a MOD dial, a dial modified by the Ministry Of Defense.
There are several difference from the " factory " dial:
Pay attention to:
- The different shape of the hour numbers, especially the shape of the " 2 " of the 12, the fatter 3 and 9, the flat 4...
- The way " Jaeger-Lecoultre " is printed, which is not very clean, to say the least.
- The Luminous, which is not radium.
- And, first time I see that on a JLC WWW dial, the circled P, printed in the subdial of the small seconds!
The meaning of the circled P could well stand for Phosphorous luminous material.
Even if I already saw crowns of that kind on a few WWW, I am still not sure it is the correct one, though.
For the rest, a watch which lived its tough life, if you judge from the condition of the chromium plated case, and the case back, but a Watch with a lot of character, and strenght, depsite its modest size ( 35 mm ) AND, as always with the WWW, a superb movement, which was only used in THIS Watch, the Cal 479.
Here are the pictures of " The Beast ":
Isn't it beautiful? And interesting?
Best,
