Hello everyone,
I am new here, and I'd appreciate your help on my question.
A little background on my frustration:
I started collecting watches in 16 years ago, I have gone through most antique chronographs, most older Rolex sports watches, and practically all contemporary watches, including the popular AP, VC, PP, A.Lange & Sohne, etc..
While I enjoyed changing from one watch to another, the process also gets increasingly frustrating for me as well. I was wearing older Rolexes, like the Paul Newman Daytona, Double red Seadweller, Milgauss etc., but, being older watches, they weren't robust enough. Pateks are not my style, except the 3970, but it was too fragile for my daily activities (swimming, running, biking etc.). AP didn't exude much confidence as I was unfortunate enough to experience problems with a few chronograph models. My FP Journe had the needles popped out, so that had to go...
(Please note that these were my personal experience, I do not mean to offend any die-hard fans, and you should not generalize on these, specific examples.)
I am seeking for a watch that must:
1) be technically advanced/ahead of its times...
2) be almost maintenance free (except for the obligatory oil change)
3) be robust enough for sports activities, that I can wear on my F3 track day
4) be exclusive
5) be easily serviceable by factory, with a reasonable turn-around time
6) be automatic and NOT a tourbillon (I don't want problems, less parts, less problems)
7) be water resistant to at least 50m
8) be <U$50000
I am now considering a new RM010 or a used RM005... Do you think either one is THE watch for me?
In addition, I noticed that the RM005 has a water resistance of 100m, compared to other RMs, would this then be the RM with the highest depth rating? Why is this so?
Please share your experience.
Thanks in advance,
