In my opinion, the GO handwound 1845 series is one of the most attractive range of classic watches. I was tempted a lot to buy the 1845 pointer date in steel, especially because of its incredibly beautiful movement. However, already when handling it in the shop, I experienced a problem which finally prevented me from buying the watch:
It was nearly impossible for me to wind the watch. My clumsy fingers just could not grip the small and elegant onion crown tightly enough. Each turn resulted in a rather painful experience. Additionally, the winding in the movement itself was not as smooth as I would have wished.
Some months later, I visited a huge watch store in Leipzig, looking at another 1845 pointer date. The same happened: The crown did not grip well enough. Even when I asked the nice lady in shop to wind the watch, she admitted after a try, that she had difficulties (I swear: her hands and fingers were far more elegantly shaped than mine!!) to grip the crown.
Now my query: Do those of you owning an 1845 series watch experience the same trouble? Or is this limited to the pointer date model? Or is it limited to some individual watches?
You can imagine that a watch which must be wound daily, will inevitably be stored in the drawer with no wrist time at all, if it is troublesome to wind it.
And still, I really would like to have one ...
