Gold bracelet resizing question - need help urgently
Hello everyone
I posted this as a reply to an old thread but time is of the essence and decided to create a separate post. I am in Switzerland looking at a gold vintage PP Calatrava (approx 1969). Wife wants a gold with champagne dial and gold bracelet - this one checks all these boxes. However, it has a very long bracelet that would slide off her wrist completely if left unsized. Each side needs to be shortened by about 0.75"-1".
Is this relatively easily doable? My jeweler back in Boston said he would not risk it. Seems trivial to me but that is based on logic only - zero skills on my end... I am planning to talk to some local jewelers in the AM. Only have tomorrow to decide.

Go visit them at the Henri Stern Watch Agency at Rockefeller Center in NYC. They’ll be able to size it.

Will Patek resize these? I have passed on a few vintage pieces for the sole reason that these bracelets seemed..troublesome. But if PP will resize that is great. Maybe I just need to take a picture to them and ask.
Try a goldsmith / jeweler / watchmaker, no problem to cut and laser weld that bracelet
People used to do it all the time, fifty years ago (he says, having been around then)

Will try a couple of local goldsmiths today (I am in Bern). Want to make sure.
It kinda looks like the bracelet is a continuous taper.
Isn't that gonna make it difficult to use the existing clasp if the bracelet is cut anywhere to shorten it? Unless that's just the way it looks in the pictures...
