I have a friend who has an explorer that he bought in 1964. He still has the original bill of sale for the watch from the AD who is still in business! The serial number is just below 1000000. I am assuming that such a watch is quite rare. He asked if i would find out for him.
I am guessing there might be one or two explorer experts here.....

not a ref 1016 but a non chronometer version, probably ref. 5504. The watch looks very nice ! Cheers Jeff

it has this bill of sale from 1964 at £46!!! I am assuming it is not an especially rare watch, but character-full.
