Chopard

Down in the dumps, all over a Chopard.................

Some have heard my trials and tribulations with Chopard, specifically the Pro One. I bought a blue dial version that I later sold because, well because I did not learn to love the blue dial. The bezel was loose on that one. Later I bought a black dial version, which also had a loose bezel. By loose I mean you can rotate the bezel with what I consider relatively light finger pressure. Mind you, I am not necessarily looking for the kind of resistance that you see with a Sea Dweller, Omega SMP or a Breitling dive watch. I simply feel that it is not too much to expect that while just doing my routine activities of the day, the bezel should not rotate.

Then came the wooden door frame. Pop, off came the bezel. Watch went back to Chopard USA and to their credit they quickly reattached the bezel free of charge, they even covered shipping. When it returned the bezel was significantly tighter so I was delighted. Unfortunately, after wearing the watch for the last 2 or 3 weeks the bezel started to rotate freely again last night. The watch is lovely. I love the movement and have even learned to accept the jerking second hand but the bezel is beyond the pale. Not really looking for any answers but just needed to vent. Seems to me that I should expect more from a $7,000 + watch, maybe not. Having another watch maker look at it is not the answer, the act of removing the bezel destroys the PLASTIC ring that attachs the bezel to the watch. Back to square one.
