Columbus Set
Back in the early 2000's as I was diving into the world of Ulysse Nardin, inspired by my purchase of the first Freak, I began a run of about 10 years picking up various UN pieces of the day. Rolf Schnyder, Ludwig Oechslin and Pierre Gygax were arguably turning out some of the most innovative and interesting watches at UN and I couldn't get enough of the new releases.
My trusted AD at the time had a Columbus set which was issued in both steel (100 sets) and 18kt gold (25 sets) in a unique porthole box. They differed from the 'ordinary' 1846 Marine line showcasing display backs with more finishing and a skelontonized rotor. The set includes an 1846 Marine Chronometer (ref. 263-22), an 1846 Marine Diver (ref. 263-58) and an 1846 Marine Annual Chronograph (ref. 513-22).

Thanks for the trip back in time. I fondly remember the set. You are absolutely right that Rolf, Ludwig and Pierre combined to create some incredible watches. We can only hope that UN carries on that tradition info the future. It is high expectation to
hope that they will have a new marvel yearly but still.....

At that time I had a regular 1846 Marine Chronometer already, and didn't have to saavy (or guts) to sell it AFTER rather than before I bought a set. Cazalea

Never been a fan of the Chronograph and the Diver, but I think the ownership of the Marine Chronometer says enough about how I feel about it. I like the brushed details and bracelet finish on that one compared with the non limited model. Thanks for sharin...

There Marine chronometer was my first "really good" watch. Was stolen in a burglary and I still miss it greatly. If they made it again without the date window - I would buy it immediately!
