Can anyone identify this reference?
Hi All,
I was visiting my father last night in preparation for the blizzard. He was wearing one of his many old Pateks. This piece was purchased 20-30 years ago in Switzerland. It hs yellow gold case with a solid back. It is hand wound. The papers are in the bank vault hopefully with the rest of his Pateks. Can anyone identify the reference. I would suspect that it is fairly uncommon. Thanks CB

for the age of the watch. Plus the circles surrounding the word "Swiss" at the bottom. May want to have opened and see just what is inside.
Are you saying that it might be fake? That would be bad.
I am certain that it was purchased at an authorized AD. I believe that it has been serviced at HSWA in NYC too. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.

Ref. 3861 from the 80s, but it should have an automatic movement - cal. 240. Are you sure about manual? 3855 has the same style (dial and hands), but comes with a slightly different case. The lattter has a manual movement - cal. 215. Best, Oliver
I am pretty sure it is manual wind. But I did not check personally.
Although my father is getting on in age,87 yrs, he knows his watches so I bet it is manual wind. I can double check next time I am there.
