Breguet

Breguet Marine ref : 5817

I was at my local watch retailer last Sat browsing for a watch for my girlfriend when the 5817ST/12 caught my eye. I have always regarded Breguet as a fine watch with a great history that do not "shout out too loud" (same sentiment about JLC too). I never really had closer look at Breguet probably due to its price and lack of water-resistant & "ruggardness" (except for its TypeXXI). With the 5817 you get the famous blue Breguet hands in a sporty 100m w.r. s.s. case and a rubber strap, but still retaining the traditional Breguet look, at once I knew it is w/in my grasp.
Going thru the catalogue and the Breguet website, I still have some questioned unanswered, so where else a better place to look than the Breguet forum, I will appriciate it if you all can help me w/ some of my questions on ref: 5817 (even if it sound silly).

1. Is the movement (calibre 517GG) inhouse ? If not which movement is it based on ?

2. If it is an inhouse movement, how old is it ? and is it used in other Breguet models ?

3. Can you hack the second hand ?

4. Does it have quick set date ?

5. What does it mean by "silvered 18 carat gold dial" ?

Thanks & w/ regards.
