Bedat & Co Basel 2010 Collection Premiere

Bedat & Co is founded in 1996 by Christian and his mother Simone Bedat.  Their first collections were presented in Basel 1997 - the Collections No. 3 and No. 7, and not No.1 if you noticed.
Interestingly this company uses numeric instead of name to represent their collection.  Perhaps it may have something to do with numerology but it is definitely universal, easy to remember and pronounceable in all languages.

Subsequently, Collection No.1 was launched in 2003, No.8 in 2004  and No.2 in 2008.
In 2009, though the stewardship went to Luxury Concepts, Bedat & Co remains a full-fledged Swiss company with distribution on 5 continents.

For the Basel 2010 Collection in Singapore, the launched date was on  20 October 2010 ( 20 - 10 - 2010).
Was it intentional?

The event location was at the grand, St Regis.

The mood was prepped with the serene sound of the harp and violin.

The 'Embassy & Consulate' conference room was laid out with most of the available models of Bedat & Co...

An ultra-thin Ref 878, the brand's first limited edition of 878 pieces.

Just love the cushion-shaped with a simple and straight-forward dial.

Collection No.8 , is a combination of rounded square with a internal circle.

Besides representing prosperity, it is a universal symbol of perfection and infinity.

The crown of all the Bedat watches are formed by two "Bs" which not only looks like an hourglass but also the digit/numeric "8" which in Chinese is very auspicious and pronounced as 'fa' signifying "great wealth".

The double 'Bs' is a registered trademark of Bedat & Co since 1997.

The double 'Bs' siglet is used on the crown and also the hour-marker for 8H.

Variations of the Collection No. 8 ....

One of the models from the Collection No. 7.

No.7 takes the form of the rectangular shape and curved out at 3H and 9H.

'7', it is considered the most magical number, sort of like God's number.  In Ancient Egypt, it symbolized eternal life.

For Collection 2, it composed of layerings of oval-shapes.

It's a symbol of good Union in Chinese.

Before the last of the seven pieces being shown, a few words from Mr Dino Modolo, Director of Creations Bedat & Co.

He briefly mentioned his design concept of expressing the brand's core values through its timepieces - "a combination of graceful elegance with a strong feminine personality, respect for traditional craftmanship and the love of details and noble materials."
