Baselworld 2016: CHOPARD Imperiale Joaillerie watch

Colours of the rainbow were captured and animated by Chopard into an extraordinary wristwatch that mesmerises the eye of the beholder.
The Imperiale collection is enriched by this latest member - a stunning watch, a technical tour de force, and an exquisite thing of beauty.
The fascinating Imperiale Joaillerie watch is enveloped in an array of rainbow colours; it immediately draws eyes to it. The 581 sapphires, 1,012 hours of gem selection and setting of stones totalling 47.98 carats yield an execeptional response; a visceral emotional response. This jewellery masterpiece is adorned in subtly graded shades covering the entire colour spectrum – from majestic purple (the emblematic colour of the Imperiale collection) to anise green through a kaleidoscope blues, reds and yellows.
Jewellery and watchmaking workshops of the Geneva-based Manufacture have successfully devoted their attention to this exceptional work of art. They have given life to an 18ct rose gold watch entirely set with baguette-cut sapphires, forming a colour scale entirely covering the dial, case and bracelet. The crown and lug-covers are adorned with amethysts. As haute couture is the theme this year, Chopard envisage it clad in a couture dress reflecting all the colours of the rainbow and forming an exquisitely delicate ‘fabric’. Beating steadily beneath this gorgeous gown is the heart of a self-winding mechanical movement.

Entirely developed and produced in Chopard's workshops of Fleurier Ebauches, the Chopard 01.03-C calibre powering the Imperiale Joaillerie beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hertz) and has an excellent 60-hour power reserve. Chopard Calibre 01.03-C is visible through an exhibition case-back.
The Imperiale Joaillerie in rainbow colours is a timepiece fit for an empress.
