Airport Watches - Because I saw them in the airport !
Passing through Geneva Airport last week a display caught my eye.
Several watches which I did not expect to encounter at the airport. But was happy that I did.
SpaceOne, Dennison and (not pictured) Furlan Marri each prominently featured. I didn’t take any pictures of the FMs as I own a few and am quite familiar with them.
The Jumping Hour was eye catching in all its purple glory. But it was very top heavy (steel case) and would not sit steady on my wrist. But there is a titanium version and that would be the right choice in my opinion.
These Dennison watches have popped up online for me in several places over the last year or so. These fit a niche that many of us might want to address, without spending bigger bucks on certain Patek or other similarly styled watches.
And with their stone dials and stone bezels they are offering something interesting.
However, they are quartz. And to me that’s usually a hard no (with some exceptions, Swatch, Casio and the early Furlan Mari meccaquartz).
They are also expensive in my mind, and I feel like for the watches with the stones on the bezels they should have found a cheaper solution. By contrast Furlan Mari used lab grown diamonds last year on one of their watches, it was also mechanical, and so I’d more happily spend money on that.
Nice to look at on the wrist, and they wear very well.
By contrast to the Jumping Hour above the Worldtime which was titanium felt nice and balanced and sat well on my wrist.
Both watches were very wearable and to me offer something very interesting in that micro brand space.

I actually think they were maybe cheaper or at worst the same price if I bought online. (Talking about the SpaceOne watches). And I also came away from this trip with verbal intent to place a deposit on a watch which may be delivered in 2030 or thereabout...
Great diversity of pieces, Jay! I really like that stone dial Dennison!
However, with the exception of my Garmin Forerunner 965, quartz movements are also a hard no for me! Safe travels!🥂
Yeah, the stone dials are super cool.
But there are many choices now in the microbrand space for stone dials, and mechanical choices. For something like these, especially in this style of watch case, I think about them like “costume jewelry”. One is only seeking “the look”, and their use case...

I’d seen the SpaceOne watches before, but did not have a chance to try them on. The purple of the Jumping Hour was very cool in person, but comes across more blue in the picture above. That and the WorldTime do sit very very nicely on my smaller wrist. I ...
Am with you on the wearability of the SpaceOne…
Jump hour - mine is in steel which doesn’t sit well with the thick rubber strap. I think a slimmer strap will work better to hold the watch in place. Worldtime - in titanium which wears great due to the lightness (60+ g) and the almost no lug case design....
For me the steel was just a bit top heavy versus what seemed like a lighter fabric strap.
Cool watches no question.

I do think these are very wearable. But also, titanium is the better choice for case material.

Models I would want not sold out. Cash flow is very bad right now.
Nice dials for sure, but maybe better options to buy them in.
SpaceOne could scratch a certain itch very well.

Thankfully after a crazy month of airplanes, now two more weeks in one place. And then, back to that common favourite city of ours !
