Advice for servicing a Reverso Grande Date
Greetings to all! I am new to this website, what a beautiful site and resource. I am hoping for a bit of advice concerning where to send my stainless steel Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Grande Date 8-Day. It has the discontinued “XGT” case, 29mm by 46.5mm including lugs. I believe my preference would be to find a reputable independent watchmaker who specializes in JLC, but am open to advice on that versus sending to JLC through an AD or Boutique. Any advice welcome and thank you! Brian

As for service. If you have good trustworthy independent watchmaker you have relationship in past or very good reference I would go for that...it should be quicker and cheaper. Cheers D

I do have a couple guys I’ve used and both good. One is JLC trained and is excellent but communication with him was poor and he had my watch a long time. Appreciate your reply.

My watches are for ages with my watchmaker...annoying to hell...but once at different watchmaker it was quick and disastrous Think that sending to JLC and getting it back will also take some time. Cheers D
I would always favor JLC through your AD or Boutique if you have good relations with them.
For vintage, it is a different thing. For moderns such as yours, I would first ask your AD or Boutique to give you informations about the price and the time. I assume it is just a service? Best, Nicolas

Appreciate it Nicolas. Yes just a service. With the double barrel (?) movement I assume will be more expensive? No JLC dealer near me
It should be someone who has access to JLC spare parts,
in case that something needs to be replaced, not to be limited to just a "generic overhaul". (Minimum, the two mainsprings should be routinely replaced.) Richemont service is then an obvious option. I had my JLC serviced by a JLC trained local independent...
Are you absolutely sure
it needs a service. Not meaning to be patronising. Can you give us some symptoms of problems? If it is keeping time and running fine, absolutely do not open it for 'routine maintenance'.
