215- is it time for a new caliber?

Patek's manual wind workhorse, the 215, has proven reliable, durable, and accurate but is a movement designed for a 31-33mm case still appropriate in more modern sized watches?  Patek movements combined with classic styling earns the brand a top spot on the horologic food chain but when there is such size disparity isn't it time to redesign?

If it's not broke don't fix it, but I think it's time for a manual wind movement that can be viewed through a display back without creating a 'porthole' type view.  I love the 3919 as well as virtually all of the classic manual wind calatravas from yesteryear but still can't warm up to the 5119 or 5123 or even the 5196 solid case back variants for this reason.  As prices have risen substantially over the past decade isn't it about time to design a more appropriate sized movement?
