A first work-in-progress update on the WatchProSite 20th Anniversary Hentschel H1 Chronometer
As most of you know at the occasion of the 20 years Anniversary of WatchProSite we have worked together with Andreas Hentshel for developping a 20 pieces exclusive Limited Edition.
As all of us are very impatient and look forward to strapping this watch on the wrist, hereafter is a first update on the development…
As an introduction let me start with few words from Andreas : « We are thrilled to be part of this exceptional Anniversary project for WatchProSite and very happy about the immediate success of this unique edition of the H1 Chronometer ».
To allow all of you being part of the process we would like to provide regular updates. In this first update let’s get close with the case, the crystal and the hands.
The aesthetics of the WatchProSite anniversary watch
This truly elegant and timeless Hentschel watch is sculptured with the clear rules of design in mind which were followed strictly and without compromise.
The case
Because of its low profiled silhouette and the evenly curved lugs the case follows the shape of the wrist perfectly. To achieve this an elaborate three-part case construction with five internal gaskets was developed. This allows for an exquisite watch case that is robust and waterresistant at the same time.

Crystal and hands
A precisely ground, slightly domed sapphire crystal spreads the incoming light evenly onto the dial. This is attained by two polished facets on the outer radius that work like a prism. A double-sided and scratch-resistant anti-reflective coating ensures the legibility from all angles.
Every sapphire crystal is ground to shape from a solid blank in a process that can last up to six weeks. In contrast to industrial manufactured crystals the crystaline structure is retained which provides for a natural scratch and shatter resistance. This improves the resistibility of the crystal considerably.
This virtually invisible sapphire crystal spans the likewise cambered dial on which the perfectly aligned hands are making their precise rounds.

The movement
The H1 Chronometer well deserves its name. Its handwound chronometer caliber will deserve to be the main topic of our next update shortly.
To be followed, stay tuned…
