Thank you Nico for pointing it out to me.
For me this speaks volumes. Geneva feel it is time to to put some well deserved light on the importance of the 5960.
This is the Patek that I know and love. Subtlety lifting a well deserving timepiece into a bit of limelight.
A great read folks especially for all my fellow 5960 admirers here.
The historical importance of the 5960 to Patek is a good chunk of its allure to me.
I’m pleased they have also pictured the original version in the most noble of metal : Platinum.
Enjoy.

About the Patek Philippe Ref. 5960

The Patek Philippe Complications reference 5960A, introduced in stainless steel, represents a significant offering within the brand's annual calendar chronograph series. This particular reference is notable for being the first annual calendar chronograph from Patek Philippe to be offered in a non-precious metal, making it a distinctive piece in the Complications collection. It combines practical complications with a robust case material, appealing to collectors seeking a blend of utility and horological complexity.

This reference features a 40.5mm stainless steel case, housing the self-winding Caliber CH 28-520 QA 24H. The movement provides a power reserve of approximately 55 hours and is visible through a sapphire crystal case back. The dial is presented in white, protected by a sapphire crystal, and the watch is water-resistant to 30 meters. The integrated stainless steel bracelet complements the case material, providing a cohesive aesthetic.

The 5960A in stainless steel holds a specific position for collectors due to its material choice and the integrated bracelet, differentiating it from its precious metal counterparts. Its combination of an annual calendar and chronograph functions, along with the 24-hour indication, makes it a highly functional and mechanically interesting timepiece. The special hand set and case back decoration mentioned for this specific 5960A further emphasize its unique attributes within the production run.

Aaah, stuck pages... :) It is very good to put the light on this reference. And well deserved, as I see it as a new Classic.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Pages stuck together took me right back πŸ™ˆ

Yes agreed. It’s always been a classic to me from day one. M.

Same for me ( the watch, not the stuck pages. ;) ). It was a big love affair since day one.

You kill me.

I remember it so well I was in the Patek museum in 2006 and they played the 5960 video on the big screen. I was absolutely in love there and then. I just loved all it stood for how it looked and what it did in that order. I remember the emotion so well. Only ever happened again when I stood in front of the first show case marked vintage at the London Saatchi exhibition looking at a 5970 with a dial colour that caused heart palpitations. M.

Here again, this watch was against my rules ( no annual calendar for me ) and even with the annual calendar, I wanted one. I guess the very classy ruthenium dial and the chrono mono counter helped a lot.

As for the 5970, your salmon dial is killing me. MY Grail!

Our own personal collecting rules are allowed to be broken occasionally.

That is another whole topic which I will do a post on but one of my very strict rules were β€œthou shall not have more than one of any reference in ones collection β€œ. I have broken that. So yes it is ok to break our own rules. I have to say my friend that this 5960 is so you it’s unbelievable. Sporty Good looking Intelligent Sophisticated Complicated Classic Precious No more to say and I’ll take my head from your back side now πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚πŸ™πŸΌ. M.
