Christianch's post highlights a significant moment in the luxury watch market: Sylvester Stallone's decision to auction off a portion of his esteemed collection, including a Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime. This event sparks a broader conversation among collectors about the motivations behind such high-profile sales and their implications for the market and brand policies. The discussion delves into the ethics of celebrity collecting and the evolving landscape of watch ownership.

The Patek Philippe 175th Anniversary Collection, launched in 2014, comprises a series of highly complex and limited-edition timepieces created to commemorate the manufacture's significant milestone. This collection showcases Patek Philippe's mastery across various horological disciplines, featuring a diverse array of complications and artistic crafts. Each model within the collection represents a distinct facet of the brand's heritage and technical prowess, designed for discerning collectors.
The collection includes models with a variety of precious metal cases, such as rose gold, white gold, and platinum, with dimensions and thicknesses varying significantly depending on the specific reference. Movements are exclusively mechanical, encompassing both manual-winding and automatic calibers, many of which are newly developed or highly modified for these special editions. Sapphire crystals are universally employed, and water resistance ratings vary by model, reflecting their specific design and intended function.
This anniversary collection appeals to collectors seeking exceptional examples of contemporary haute horlogerie and significant pieces within Patek Philippe's modern history. The limited production numbers and the complexity of the movements ensure their continued relevance in the secondary market. The collection includes a wide spectrum of complications, from world timers and chronographs to grand complications, offering a varied selection for different collecting interests.
does this work ? youtu.be moderators: can someone update the link please?
Did he get divorced recently if I remember? Seems he's unloading some stuff. Best of luck to him. Weird to have a new RO tourbillon, green 5711 and the grand master. All stuff I'm sure he got saying he wouldn't sell 🤷♂️ the 1 of 1 all gold pam I kinda like just as history piece.
controversial question for all Patek collectors: how would Patek or should Patek react to this sale 🤭 ? In my humble opinion the "no resell policy" doesn't really apply to VVIP clients !
That was the only thought that occured to me from the entire video....
To me most of these watches scream look at me I have alot of money and not much else. For me his collection just lacks aesthetic cohesiveness. I guess it keeps the manufacturers in business (and the auction houses) so god bless.
How about the AD who delivered the Grand Master Chime, sealed?? I'm sure a lot of people will love to get a piece or two like that and think "Paul Newman". Seems like a lot of offloading by mega collectors since the peak of 2022. BS, BS, lol....
