Patrickh shares his impressions of the Patek Philippe 5960R with a grey dial after comparing it with the 5960P at a Parisian reseller. He highlights the surprising comfort of the rose gold version due to its lighter weight and the classic appeal of the grey dial combined with the warm gold.

The Patek Philippe Complications reference 5960A, introduced in stainless steel, represents a significant offering within the brand's annual calendar chronograph series. This particular reference is notable for being the first annual calendar chronograph from Patek Philippe to be offered in a non-precious metal, making it a distinctive piece in the Complications collection. It combines practical complications with a robust case material, appealing to collectors seeking a blend of utility and horological complexity.
This reference features a 40.5mm stainless steel case, housing the self-winding Caliber CH 28-520 QA 24H. The movement provides a power reserve of approximately 55 hours and is visible through a sapphire crystal case back. The dial is presented in white, protected by a sapphire crystal, and the watch is water-resistant to 30 meters. The integrated stainless steel bracelet complements the case material, providing a cohesive aesthetic.
The 5960A in stainless steel holds a specific position for collectors due to its material choice and the integrated bracelet, differentiating it from its precious metal counterparts. Its combination of an annual calendar and chronograph functions, along with the 24-hour indication, makes it a highly functional and mechanically interesting timepiece. The special hand set and case back decoration mentioned for this specific 5960A further emphasize its unique attributes within the production run.
.....I don't really go for annual calendar complication. Having said that, if i were to go for one, it would be between the 5960P with anthracite dial and the one on your wrist. I think these two stand very high on the list of 5960 variants.
I tried this model as well and the RG hue is stunning, light and not too colourful. The combination of the RG with this grey dial gives a very nice casual and more casual look that I like very much. We don't see the rose gold versions of the 5960 often, thanks for sharing Best, Mark
They really hit it off well with the initial releases of 5960P and R. I could easily see myself add a rose one day! I am quite curious to see whether we will see a yellow gold version one day since they have somewhat told us the reference will be kept alive some more. I thought previously the A would end the reference but this year we learned differently with additional versions released.
...but that is an amazing color combo. Would love to see it on other references.
I have to admit I am still wondering which version would be the right choice : - P : I usually love Platinum cases and for 5960 P I specially like the blue and black dial versions but... it is quite heavy and because of the height of the case, I am not sure if it is so comfortable to wear ; I am afraid it is twisting around the wrist ; I actually had the same problem with the fantastic ALS Datograph and finally decided to let it go in spite of my love for it for it was not comfortable on my wris
I am not a fan of the steel.
