Dr.kol presents a unique Patek Philippe Ref. 5960P, highlighting its distinctive platinum bracelet, blue dial, and tachymeter scale. This post sparks a lively discussion among collectors about custom Patek Philippe creations and the nuances of acquiring such exclusive pieces. The author's personal story adds a profound layer to the appreciation of this exceptional timepiece.

The Patek Philippe Complications reference 5960A, introduced in stainless steel, represents a significant offering within the brand's annual calendar chronograph series. This particular reference is notable for being the first annual calendar chronograph from Patek Philippe to be offered in a non-precious metal, making it a distinctive piece in the Complications collection. It combines practical complications with a robust case material, appealing to collectors seeking a blend of utility and horological complexity.
This reference features a 40.5mm stainless steel case, housing the self-winding Caliber CH 28-520 QA 24H. The movement provides a power reserve of approximately 55 hours and is visible through a sapphire crystal case back. The dial is presented in white, protected by a sapphire crystal, and the watch is water-resistant to 30 meters. The integrated stainless steel bracelet complements the case material, providing a cohesive aesthetic.
The 5960A in stainless steel holds a specific position for collectors due to its material choice and the integrated bracelet, differentiating it from its precious metal counterparts. Its combination of an annual calendar and chronograph functions, along with the 24-hour indication, makes it a highly functional and mechanically interesting timepiece. The special hand set and case back decoration mentioned for this specific 5960A further emphasize its unique attributes within the production run.
I just prefer the power reserve hand does not cross the Patek Philippe logo as for the primary 5960P series. My 2 cents.
However, this watch was done this way and I can't complain. In general I would say that the Name and Geneva could be smaller in many modern Patek. My understanding about Patek Philippe is that there is no need whatsoever to emphasise the Brand. A Patek owner knows what the watch represent and it should not be important that others around the table will notice it. Patek owners can always recognise a Patek and it's enough the others might notice the elegance of the timepiece. Best, Kari

Good bye Estonia for ever. Here in Finland, thanks to the car taxes and Finnish values, we do not drive Ferrari and quite seldom Porsche. My family will be driving one new Audi and one still not delivered MB. Helsinki is 46 nautical miles north of Tallinn but these two capital are two different worlds. In Estonia, as an example, it is very important to "show up" while in Finland modesty is a virtue. Estonia is very unfriendly if you are different in any ways while in Finland people are very tole
You are lucky to live in such country with these values.
I agree, it's a privilege to be a Finn and even more, to live in Finland. It might snow every now and then but this is a great country. When I look from my windows, terrace or garden to the sea 50 meters away and admire the archipelago, I think I'm the luckiest man on earth. I even wear a nice watch... Best, Kari
