Not too long after I got my 5712/1A, I decided to make a move on my second Patek Philippe, the 5960P

I was looking to buy a Datograph, as I know how beautiful the movement architecture and finish of the Datograph.. But I have also been looking at the 5960P, which to me, as far as finish I know not as perfect as the Datograph, but it has a very fresh design, it has a nice annual calendar, rather than just date, and it also feels and looks more beautiful sitting on my wrist

So without further ado,

My second Patek Philippe, My first platinum watch and My first annual calendar complication

I really love the fresh look of the watch with the big minute and hour chronograph counter at 6 o'clock

This original version's color combination is still my favorite, despite the new offering of different color combination

The movement's finishing and design, although not comparable to Lange Datograph but still, is very nice

And on the wrist, it is just very sexy!

I just realized that the 5960 has a concave bezel, I have only seen a concave bezel in a watch, it is really unusual but gives it a more pleasing aesthetic

I would like to thank a very kind Purist member here who have helped me to purchase this watch.. And he knows how special it is for me

Hope you guys enjoy it!

Best,

Sam

About the Patek Philippe Ref. 5960

The Patek Philippe Complications reference 5960A, introduced in stainless steel, represents a significant offering within the brand's annual calendar chronograph series. This particular reference is notable for being the first annual calendar chronograph from Patek Philippe to be offered in a non-precious metal, making it a distinctive piece in the Complications collection. It combines practical complications with a robust case material, appealing to collectors seeking a blend of utility and horological complexity.

This reference features a 40.5mm stainless steel case, housing the self-winding Caliber CH 28-520 QA 24H. The movement provides a power reserve of approximately 55 hours and is visible through a sapphire crystal case back. The dial is presented in white, protected by a sapphire crystal, and the watch is water-resistant to 30 meters. The integrated stainless steel bracelet complements the case material, providing a cohesive aesthetic.

The 5960A in stainless steel holds a specific position for collectors due to its material choice and the integrated bracelet, differentiating it from its precious metal counterparts. Its combination of an annual calendar and chronograph functions, along with the 24-hour indication, makes it a highly functional and mechanically interesting timepiece. The special hand set and case back decoration mentioned for this specific 5960A further emphasize its unique attributes within the production run.

I have to say that I find this dial so nice that it helps me to love it

Despite the annual calendar complication, which I don't like. But I love this dial so much that I would even forget it is aalso an annual calendar. One of the very few in the current collection I am seriously considering to buy. Huge congratulations, Sam. And well, Sunday is confession day. Well done, too. :) Best, Nicolas

I didn't realize that it was

A perfect timing for a confession.. But anyways, thank you for your kind words! And I didn't expect that this is a model that you'd actually like I think the design on this one is really fresh, it's unlike any other chronograph out there.. It's young and it's fun to wear too. I feel it is at some point, also understated, especially now that Panerai is getting very noticeable to people here in Asia. May I know why you don't like annual calendar complication, Nicolas? Best, Sam

I love the 5960P for what it is: a cool watch housing one of the first

If not the first in house Chrono movement from Patek. I am not fan of thge Annual Calendar because it is half way between the triple calendar and the perpetual calendar. This is this concept I don't like. BUT this one is so cool tht I can live with it, and the look of the monocounter is captivating me, too. Best, Sam. Nicolas

I , too, also thought..

Of it that way too.. But I guess to put this annual calendar mechanism on this one makes it charming and still "affordable" Ah yes.. The mono counter is just lovely.. My first love with a Patek was with a 5980/1A, which I still really like.. It's a very nicely done design they did Best, Sam

It was the first inhouse one

And as an annual calendar is a quintessential Patek complication they might have thought to combine it. My choice is the snow dome version: RG! Best Moritz

Congrats Sam!

This is a superb watch, the most important is your own feelings when you wear it. The concave case is very nice, I enjoy it a lot my 5205. Best. Fx
