To understand the evening we had, perhaps a photo from the end will give an idea.

But first, let's start at the beginning....

Max Busser is in Australia for the first time and in Sydney near the end of a 5 day visit and kindly agrees to a private request for a friendly casual quiet dinner with 6 friends away from the hype and bustle of the official engagement circuit.

I get the call...

Dinner at Cara & Co. OK?

... Where's that?

In the shopping centre. It's a concept store.

... Ummm, alrigtht. This is the only Cara & Co I can find. Reallyy????

It's ummm, a shop! Clothes, cameras, gadgets. A Marc Newson K-01 Pentax. Not bad.

What's that up the back? Got it.

Our guest of honour arrives.

So what's on the menu. Do you guys really eat kangaroo?

Max shares with us his stories of new beginnings, of hopes, of deception, of friends, of anger, of racing cars, of dreams. We learn about the meaning of MBF and get an insight to the future. More importantly, we learn about the man.

In return we shower him with gifts.

Including of course, the obligatory jar of Vegemite.

...Enjoy Max!!! (hehehe)

... So what's this?

It's a hat . And the corks on strings frighten and shoo the flies away from your face.

.... Really? Are you serious?

... No, really! Are you serious?????

Well maybe you could wear it to keep pesky journalists away?

... Ahhh, now I understand. Perfect!

Of course we had watches on display...

And food to eat...

But above all we had a great time with our new friend.

A few days before Max arrived, a story appeared in The West Australian, by Peter May. It stated...

"To his surprise, Busser has also discovered an army of fans in Australia. Over the past two days ..... he's been treated like a rock star by groups of collectors eager to meet the man behind the eccentric creations.".

So what better way to remember a visit by a "rock star" than by having our picture taken together. Only I wanted proof that the photo he had taken with Stepan Sarpaneva wasn't a photoshop job. Max kindly obliged...

Max, have a great time and safe travels for the remainder of the tour. It was our great pleasure to meet with you. We all hope to catchup with you again next time.

.... 'twas a pleasure to spend the evening with Max and, for me as a fan of Stepan Sarpaneva, to see their collaboration. I want to extend my thanks to Max for sharing his Machines and thoughts about life, watches and well the Universe really, to Cara & Co for great food (I had the kangaroo too) and service, and a HUGE thanks to sidneyc, without whom the evening would not have been possible, as it was he who organised and hosted the evening. I was very fortunate to get in touch with Max for such an amazing gathering, and to be able to share it with some great friends to make this such a memorable event is my dream come true! Thank you RIchard for being part of this wonderful evening! Gorgeous pictures Richard, I need a camera like yours I love the look on Max's face "are you serious?". I'll try to get enough photos good enough to make a post! I had to take most of them in ISO1600...

It was impressive food and a great ambience which made the evening with Max a success! Thank you! AND, thank you for getting Max our iconic Vegemite and the lovely Australian chocolate

not being able to attend the dinner at Gallery 1, Park Hyatt Hotel on the 17/5/12 due to my sisters short visit and her staying with me. I would love to examine and try on the watches and talk to Max. Great to have Max represented by AD's in the Eastern states other than Perth.
