In a candid post, sham1 shares the exhilarating β€” and slightly overwhelming β€” experience of an impulse acquisition: the Kudoke 2 for SJX 'Zodiac' Edition. This article delves into the immediate gratification and subsequent reflections that often accompany such unexpected opportunities in high-demand independent watchmaking, offering a window into the collector's psyche when faced with limited allocations and swift decisions.

I was doing my usual watch twice daily watch browsing tonight (SJX, Deployant, Monochrome, Hodinkee, Quill and Pad) when i noticed this new collaboration between SJX and Kudoke.  It was an indepth article but I just looked at the photos, scrolled straight down to the price and numbers to be produced and decided to express my interest.  I am usually consistently unsuccessful with such allocations especially when only 12 watches in titanium (my preferred metal) were available.

Two hours later I received an email to say that I would be allocated a watch and an hour later, the deposit was left.  I even managed to request for a particular number which SJX accommodated. All in all, very efficient and excellent service.  Now I know we all have reservations about the many collaborations between watch companies and watch columnists but I actually am quite impressed by the creativity of the dial with the hour markers denoted by the signs of the zodiac. The watch is fully engraved on the dial and the movement.  There is also a two tone version in titanium and rose gold which I was not especially keen on, where the crown and bezel are in rose gold.

I thought after adding the Louis Erard Alain Silberstein monopusher chronograph four days ago that it be would be my last purchase this year but alas, that was not to be!  Am I lucky or unlucky?! - I will allow you guys to decide on that!  smile

The dial had won me over! I usually prefer the Kudoke 1.

She looks the part, bravo! PS: There's no helping you. FEAR NOT... my wife is an enabler so just remember it could always be 'worse' ;-)

I was just fortunate to look at the site at the right time of the day. I guess some things are just meant to be! I am looking forward to trying this watch on. It measures only 10.7mm high but it somehow looks thicker!
