I tried it on a few years ago because i love the movement layout and finishing in the georg….but it looked very large on my skinny 6.25” wrists. Additionally, i wasn’t a big fan of the triple lugs. It makes the watch case more pronounced and draws attention…..something i didn’t like on what was supposed to be a dress watch.
I had it in WG with the white enamel dial. It’s a beautiful watch wears nicely. Not too big on my 6.75 inch wrist. I didn’t like the triple lugs, couldn’t swap out straps too easily. And ultimately square watches aren’t my thing. However, I have often contemplated buying another one so that must say something.
I didn't like the triple lugs on the round Lang & Heyne watches I tried, but for some reason they look ok on the Georg to me, but I haven't seen one in-person. The sizing comment is a little concerning. My wrist is about 6.5 or so. So pretty avg... does everyone in germany have 7.5 inch wrists or what lol
Great watch overall, happy to have one in my collection. To your questions: 1. I got a rather common version in RG with white enamel dial and blued hands so no experience with customization. 2. No concerns over quality - per my experience the assembly quality has even improved post M. Lang era. The Friedrich III I had previously acquired when the man was still at helm had some dust under the dial and slightly misaligned hands. 3. Size-wise: it’s a bit thick by modern standard for a three hand dr
So can’t comment on what he paid for it new from an AD. Mainly the movement is special so that’s why I keep considering it.
I managed to try two versions on over the years; a darker dial definitely helped the watch wear a little smaller. But it felt too long lug to lug for me, and quite “blocky”. Beautiful watch; I love the movement layout. But I spent about a year trying to even see one in the metal around 2018 or so and when I finally did it was such a disappointment that my wrist was too small for it.
