holdemchamp1225, a prominent collector, shares his unexpected acquisition of the Laurent Ferrier Grand Sport Tourbillon. This article explores his journey to appreciating its 44mm dimensions and the discreet horological mastery within, offering valuable insights for those considering larger independent watch offerings. His experience highlights how perceived size can differ significantly from actual wrist comfort.

No crazy back story to this beautiful addition.

As most know, I am waiting for the delivery of the new Laurent Ferrier Sport Auto 41mm from this year's W&W. I actually knew about the piece last year and was excited to finally add my first Laurent Ferrier piece.

I've always admired the Grand Sport Tourbillon but at 44mm I thought it would be to big for my chicken wrist πŸ”πŸ€£πŸ€£

Fast forward a little and after trying on the Sport Auto 41mm in Geneva during W&W I was very surprised how comfortable it wore. The dimensions did not wear as large as I had imagine. For those that don't know, usually a cushion case wears slightly larger than a round case (same as a square case). Since the Sport Auto and this Grand Sport Tourbillon do not have true lugs, they wear smaller than the advertised size.

So that got me thinking about the 44mm GS Tourbillon as I feel it is such a sleeper in terms of an amazing casual / sport watch with amazing horology hidden inside. I just love the way the dial is super simple and conservative, albeit with a GORGEOUS taupe fumΓ© colorway, and then you turn it over to find a horological monster inside πŸ’ͺ. Actually, it reminds me of my Richard Lange Pour le Merite fusΓ©e & chain with the same concept of stealth horology πŸ˜‰πŸ˜

I contacted a collector friend who had one since these were long sold out and happily for me, that was all it took 😁

It wears SUPER comfortably on the wrist as I've had it on for a few days straight. The rubber strap adds to the comfort and at times I forget I even have it on. All I can say is I am very happy and think it wears shockingly well for being 44mm as I think it wears more like a 42mm sport watch from any other Indie or manufacturer.

Now just waiting for the delivery of the Sport Auto in 41mm and I will have a super cool LF Sport combo, one in SS on rubber strap and one in Ti with Ti bracelet πŸ˜‰

The movement is pure horological bliss with a DOUBLE SPIRAL TOURBILLON πŸ”₯😍

I was looking today at the only one available online while impatiently waiting for the Sport Auto. Apparently, I will get it this month. I love your acquisition! Wear it in the best of health. Radu
