Hi All Both my Futurematic & I have that Friday feeling - starting to run on empty! The watch will gain more power reserve during the day, while I'll probably be running down. Definitely looking forward to the weekend & switching off for a bit.

What are you wearing as we head towards the weekend? Cheers JML

About the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Reserve de Marche Ref. Q1378420

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Reserve de Marche is a distinguished member of the brand's Master Control collection, a line introduced in the early 1990s to signify watches that have undergone JLC's rigorous "1000 Hours Control" testing. This particular model embodies the collection's commitment to classicism and horological integrity, presenting a practical complication within an elegantly restrained design. It draws upon Jaeger-LeCoultre's long history of producing sophisticated movements and refined dress watches, offering a contemporary interpretation of traditional watchmaking.

Technically, this timepiece is powered by the automatic Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 938, a movement renowned for its slim profile and reliable performance. The dial layout is both balanced and functional, featuring a power reserve indicator at 9 o'clock, a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock, and a date display at 3 o'clock. The silver-grained dial, complemented by applied rhodium-plated hour markers and dauphine hands, ensures legibility while maintaining a refined aesthetic. The ultra-thin case, measuring 39mm in diameter, contributes to its comfortable wearability and ability to slip discreetly under a cuff.

As a collectible, the Master Ultra Thin Reserve de Marche holds a significant position within the landscape of accessible high horology. It represents an entry point into Jaeger-LeCoultre's more complicated offerings without the premium associated with grander complications. Its timeless design and the brand's reputation for in-house movement manufacturing ensure its enduring appeal to collectors seeking a versatile dress watch with genuine horological substance. The steel variant, in particular, offers excellent value and serves as a testament to JLC's mastery of both form and function.

My experience is that a reserve de marche on an automatic, although occasionally criticised, is not redundant, but genuinely useful. Whatever, an excellent watch.
