Shortys home introduces the Hentschel H1 Chronometer Automatic, a significant new offering from Andreas Hentschel. This post provides an early look at prototypes, highlighting the brand's commitment to expanding its collection while maintaining its puristic design philosophy. The author's detailed impressions and photographs offer valuable insights into this independent watchmaker's latest creation.
This year has been a very productive period for Andreas Hentschel when it comes to creating new options for his customers to consider. Besides the all new Uhrenwerft collection the H2 Sport Atlantis (both introduced here) there are two additional novelties that round up the collection, one of which I am sharing with you today: the Hentschel H1 Chronometer Automatic:
Both watches shown on the photos are prototypes and therefore are not just perfect yet. The RG/Bronze watch still has a too short seconds hand, the WG/steel watch has a date disc in a slightly wrong color. Both elements will of course be fixed in the final timepieces π
This introduction will not feature a photo of the movement, which is based on a Roamer 522D from the 1960s, since it did not represent the final decorated and adjusted level of a finished watch. Therefore I will share photo of the movement at a later stage, and the wait may be worth it, since there will be a nice surprise to be reported.
Now, letβs get closer to the 40mm watch that has the exact same dimensions as the hand wound H1 Chronometer, including the case height.
As the handwound H1 Chronometer satisfies all aspects of a puristic design, the H1 Automatic offers two elements of comfort. Besides not having to wind it daily it features a compartively large date at the six oβclock position. What remains are classic leaf hands which correspond so nicely to the thin tolerances between dial and crystal, obviously now with a central seconds hand, which is just beautiful to look at.

Here are some more photos that provide a closer look:

Since you have so far just seen photos of the naked watch, here are some wrist shots that shall give an impression on how the two timepieces look in daily life. One nice thing about the Hentschel H1 is that despite being categorized as a dress watch, it works very well for a casual look, too π
I hope you enjoyed the introduction and the photos. As already mentioned, photos of the finished movement will be shared once I get hold of it.
Regarding the second novelty, hereβs a short teaser. I will report on this one in two weeks π
Have a great Sunday!
Cheers
