Nicolas (amanico) shares his enduring admiration for the Grönefeld Principia Automatic, highlighting its distinctive case design, wearability, and the personal connection he feels to the Grönefeld brothers' work. His post sparks a discussion on dial preferences, particularly the appeal of enamel versus the Principia's original salmon dial, and the broader aesthetic choices in haute horlogerie.

The case is one of the many aspects of my H. Moser & Cie. Monard Big-Date that I found so appealing. It makes me wonder why more watchmakers don't take the opportunity to express themselves through this medium.
Its a superb watch but unlike the remontoire this one doesn’t “jump out” as much. The enamel dial is to die for, this salmon isn’t my favorite but thats because I don’t like salmon on any watch
and the brothers are fine gentlemen, indeed. I can't wait to get mine, frankly.
would be sublime Nico!
...with Roman numerals. Do they offer a dial with Arabic numbers? I'd like to see it...it would be Calatrava-like.
Great daily watch and one of the best three-hand watches in its class, imo
