Nicolas (amanico) shares his initial encounters with the Grönefeld One Hertz, a timepiece that has captivated collectors since its debut. His personal photos from IGOTT 2 in 2011 and a subsequent SIHH provide a rare glimpse into the watch's early presentation and enduring appeal. This article explores why the One Hertz remains a significant reference for enthusiasts of independent watchmaking.

My first encounter with the Gronefeld Brothers and their watch... The One Hertz, in Vegas, during our IGOTT 2, in 2011.

And at the SIHH, some years after...  wink

Best,

Nicolas

I had the pleasure of handling this gem and then finding a home for it. This is to my sense, their greatest model. So creative and wonderfully executed, especially in the RG case. There’s so much that is amazing in this. The two trains, the crown that depresses to switch between “winding or setting” love the massive dead beat seconds. Then there is the hand finishing on the steel bridges. Sublime work for the Dutch masters. Would have loved to have been able to keep it for myself, alas, the real
