Blomman Mr Blue presents two press shots of the Girard-Perregaux 1966 Column-wheel chronograph, highlighting its distinctive dial and manual movement. This post invites the community to appreciate the unique design elements and technical craftsmanship that set this model apart within the broader GP 1966 collection.
Friends,
Today I like to share two press shots of the Girard-Perregaux 1966 Column-wheel chronograph.
The dial side is very different from what we normally see in the GP 1966 line…
Larger applied indexes and cut off leaf hands…
But so is the inside!
Manual and column-wheel…
So many “fragrances” to explore only within the GP 1966 line!

The Girard Perregaux 1966 reference, issued in 2014, represents a specific iteration within the brand's 1966 collection, known for its classic design language. This particular model features a friendly complication, distinguishing it from simpler time-only variants within the same series. The 1966 line generally emphasizes traditional watchmaking aesthetics and proportions, appealing to those who appreciate understated horology.
The watch is housed in a case characteristic of the 1966 series. It typically features a sapphire crystal, offering clarity and scratch resistance. The movement powering this reference is an automatic caliber, consistent with Girard Perregaux's in-house manufacturing capabilities, providing a reliable power reserve suitable for daily wear.
For collectors, this reference offers a less commonly seen variant of the 1966 collection. Its appeal lies in its adherence to classical design principles and the inclusion of a practical complication. While specific dial and hand configurations can be subjects of discussion among enthusiasts, the overall presentation aligns with the brand's heritage in precision watchmaking.
but we should omit date at six and that would perfect ;) Best D
I have been thinking a lot of this one lately... And not really sure the empty space that would leave would do the watch any good... Best Blomman
and drinking for last two hours :) I'm still sure :) Best D
Take one for me as well! :) OK, tomorrow I will test if you still think so.... Cheers Blomman
First remove the date. Then a smaller case, to better go with the movement size. And we are almost in heaven. Best, Nicolas
You think of the 38 mm case? Or a new size? Yes, movement / case ratio would be better but would not the dial suffer? Best Blomman
