In a fascinating exploration of horological diversity, sham1 presents a compelling case for collecting across the entire spectrum of watchmaking. This article delves into his recent acquisitions: the highly coveted De Bethune DB8 monopusher chronograph and a whimsical Mr Jones Watches automatic jump hour. Sham1's post sparks a discussion on the joy of collecting watches that represent both the pinnacle of haute horlogerie and the playful side of independent design.

Last week, I took delivery of my grail watch - the De Bethune DB8 monopusher chronograph, a watch I truly love.  But in the same week, I also added another watch to my collection which is at the other end of the spectrum. Mr Jones Watches is a London based company that invites designers to creatively come up with their own designs. Mine is an automatic jump hour and jump minutes watch in 37mm (lug to lug 46mm) which makes it perfect for my wrist.  I love the way the time is being shown and it is my first ever watch with no hands!  Between the De Bethune and this watch, I have not worn any other watch for ten days now smile

Such a nice close up of the DB8: huge congrats again!

Your Ricochet watch is playful and colorful: Ryan Claytor has done a good job designing these metallic robots playing pinball! And the fact that the hour is displayed on the scoreboard of the game is clever. But I have to be honest: the DB8 sings a different song to my heart!

Thank you for your reply!

Yes the DB8 if of course at a different level and so it should be all things considered. The Mr Jones is a fun watch and perhaps slightly unbecoming for its 60 year old wearer!
